Alan at 7 months with his father, Frank Marshall
Alan was born in Erie Pennsylvania, and raised in a home
filled with music. He is thankful for godly parents who put
the Lord first, and set an example for him and his four
siblings to love and serve Christ with their abilities and time.
Alan earned a diploma in piano at the Erie Conservatory
of Music, then graduated from Erie Tech in Fine Arts.
He went on to attend the Cleveland Institute of Art after
being awarded a full, 4-year National Scholastic Scholarship.
During these years he had the joy of playing the piano for
his church, youth camps and choirs.
For many years Alan also played piano at the annual Grove
City Bible Conference in Pennsylvania. It is there he met
and fell in love with Beverley Henry. They married and
settled in the Detroit area, where they still reside.
Alan’s professional career began as executive art director
at Zimmer, Keller & Calvert in Detroit. He continued in the advertising and marketing industry, holding key positions with several major agencies, including J Walter Thompson and Young & Rubicam. Alan launched his own agency, Marshall Marketing, in 1985. His career has afforded him the privilege of working as an illustrator, graphic designer and art director in print and broadcast, as well as new business development.
Alan and Beverley have been blessed with two children, a son-in-law and daughter-in-law, along
with four wonderful grandchildren. Alan’s prayer is that you may be encouraged by these songs
and hymns. In these turbulent times, may we increasingly experience the peace available in the
Strong Arms of Jesus.
